Armitage church is an inner city multi-ethnic congregation nationally known for its aggressive efforts to deal with contemporary issues and urban needs. Reports about Armitage church and its ministries have been covered by Harry Smith of CPS This Morning, John Leo of US News and World Report, Charles Osgoode of CBS Radio Network, and Ben Grove of the Chicago Tribune. Local coverage is common. Members have become accustomed to seeing church activities and ministries covered by the local Chicago TV news media. On any given Sunday every spectrum of humanity will be represented in the congregation. There are thirty-five different nationalities represented in the church. People come from the ghetto, the Gold coast, and everywhere in between to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached. The hip, the square, the straight, the down and out, people with AIDS, believers and skeptics alike fill the auditorium seeking to know God and understand His Word. We at Armitage church are committed to being a church of such size and strength that we may impact Chicago and the cities of the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the last two decades Armitage church has become known as a dynamic and growing congregation. Every month we mail out more the 4,700 newsletters and our local constituency has grown to about 3,000. The annual budget has increased by more than 80 fold. All income is provided by the tithes and offerings of the membership and friends of Armitage church – not by carnivals, bingo, cake sales, etc. We take church membership seriously and live accordingly. As we have grown, God has continued to provide for the needs of our church. The congregation is committed to the renovation of our existing building and the pursuit of additional property. Through faithful giving and partnerships established with other churches Armitage is able to broaden its base without sacrificing ministry needs. Once completed, the Armitage campus will be one of the most beautiful and functional facilities in the metropolitan area.
